“Tiger Time” The story of Richmond’s drought breaking 2017 premeirship win.

This painting was born when I asked myself the question. If I was to tell only one story in a painting, which story would that be? As a Richmond supporter, the answer was obvious and came before I finished asking the question. After waiting 37 years, the 2017 grand final was the ultimate story for me to tell.

Not wanting to tell a story of celebrations, the decision was to paint a moment from the game for each of the 22 players. Together, these moments would tell the story of the actual game. The intention was to be taken back to the memories and feelings of watching the game as you looked at and throughout this artwork. Nothing confirmed the success of telling that story more than watching the replay of the game again after this painting was complete, The connection of the game and the painting was made and now the emotions are felt and the memories are jogged every time the painting is in view.

All the fine details have been produced with each player wearing the correct boots and strapping worn on the day. There is more than 600 hours put into this painting, it truly was a labour of love and passion to tell a story of what was my all time favourite sporting memory.

This Artwork is the Original piece painted with acrylic on a huge 2000mm x 750mm gallery wrapped canvas using museum grade lightfast pigmented paints. It is protected from harmful UV with a specially formulated UVLS satin finish clear top coat.
