About Damien Darroch

I view art as a way to capture memorable sporting achievements in a snapshot that tells a whole story. My purpose is to document the players and their moments on canvas, as I believe a painting has a way of immortalising these moments in a way that photos and videos do not.

As an artist, I heavily focus on detail to achieve a more realistic result. To achieve this, I use many layers and invest a lot of time into each piece. My art is a unique centerpiece and a great way to remember your favourite players and some of the best moments in sport.

I’ve been developing my art skills for over 25 years, and I continually strive to improve my technique and the quality of my work. As a passionate AFL fan, I’ve followed the Richmond Tigers my entire life, and I’m particularly inspired by the champions of the game and their awe-inspiring moments.

Driven by this passion, I pour all my heart and soul into each artwork I create. – Damien

“Backing Jack” in progress

Very happy with the progress of my latest artwork “Backing Jack” Jack Riewoldt’s big mark against the crows wasn’t captured by the AFL photographers so I decided it needed to be captured as a painting I'm very excited to release this artwork. Stay tuned for the big...

The material I use

I always use the best materials I can get for my artworks including custom made stretched canvases, not off the shelf ones from China. I’m waiting for my next canvas to be ready and didn’t want to waste a day that I had set aside for painting. So I used the time to...

Introducing “The Icing”

Introducing “The Icing”

And it is done!! I’m very proud of this artwork called ‘The Icing’ that captures Dustin Martin’s last quarter goal in the 2020 grand final. From the flick of the hand as he broke the Patrick Dangerfield tackle, to the unique angle as the goal is kicked, every part of...

What our customers have to say

So excited to add these jumper numbered prints to my memorabilia collection. Looking forward to adding a very special jumper numbered Dusty moment to the collection hopefully early next year. Thanks to Damien – I’m such a big fan of your work and absolutely thrilled with how these come up. Can’t wait to hang them in my cave – which is a work in progress at present! The “Cotchin’s Leap” my absolute never forget moment from the 2019 GF.

After witnessing another outstanding individual and team performance I wanted a special memento. Seen plenty of the mainstream memorabilia but inspired by the photo on the premiership magazine , thought I’d ask the question. Words can not describe the absolute detail and skill when you see one of these Masterpieces up close and personal. Pure Brilliance, Thanks Damien

When I first saw your artwork of Sydney Stack and my grandson Birra Whyman Coombes  I felt very emotional with happiness and pride because they are both in my blood as the Aboriginal cultural connection family/kinship.

Thank you Damien all the best.

Brilliant painting of our champion captain Trench Cotchin you’ve smashed this one Damien, all your hard work has has come to fruition top job, you are a great artist.
